Becoming a Relate Counsellor
Relate offers excellent opportunities for personal growth and development and further training for those who want to specialise in a particular form of relationship counselling such as systemic practice or counselling for young people. Information concerning training is available at Relate and the Relate Institute.
As a Relate counsellor you will be undertaking substantial training at local and national level, receiving regular group and individual supervision and working with couples and individuals as directed by your clinical supervisor. During your training you will be expected to read widely, keep a journal and complete written assignments. You will be committing yourself to an average of 10 hours a week or more.
In return you will receive excellent training with a nationally respected agency. The counsellor training will offer you an opportunity to develop yourself and make a difference to others. Following on from your couples counselling training, there are opportunities to undertake further training and to specialise within the Centre. For example, the Centre trains and employs Sex Therapists, Family Counsellors and Young People's counsellors.
